This project is a tender preparation project.
The National Railway Project in the Sultanate of Oman will consist of about 2135 km of railway line, linking – as part of GCC Railway Network the Oman / UAE border (at Al Buraimi and Khatmat Milahah) to Muscat, to the central and southern parts of the country at Port of Ad Duqm and Salalah and to the Yemen border. The ONR is intended to be a double track mixed freight and passenger non-electrified railway line. The planned ONR Network, that will link the most populated areas, the ports and the increasing productive activities of the Sultanate, will be part of the GCC Railway.
Segment 1 of the Omani railway was to run 207 km between Sohar Port and Buraimi on the sultanate’s border with the UAE. Construction on the first segment of Oman Rail was to have started in the last quarter of 2015, with completed date originally set for 2018.
Prota’s services included; track-way alignment engineering, preparation of track alternatives, selection of the most appropriate route based on surveying studies, determining the location of stations, preliminary design of stations, preparation of operational scenarios and development plan along with financial and economic feasibility studies, BoQ preparation, optimization of tender project, etc.
