Istanbul Siyami Ersek Training and Research Hospital

Dr. Siyami Ersek Chest and Cardiovascular Surgery Training & Research Hospital, being the largest cardiac center in Europe, performs approximately 3,000 cardiac surgeries annually.  The public-owned hospital with its experienced staff and advanced technology equipment provides health services to patients from all over the world.

The hospital provides high standard educational opportunities and training services on vascular diseases which makes the hospital as one of the most important training centers in this area of discipline.

The hospital building is spread over to two blocks, comprising of 23 storey hospital building and 5 storey auxiliary health unit with a total closed area of 20,000 sq. meters.

Using its extensive experience in earthquake engineering and structural design, Prota provided structural design and seismic analysis for the hospital. The lateral stability of the main building was maintained with a reinforced concrete core wall system in the middle of the building and peripheral shear walls at the short edges. Dynamic response spectrum analyses were carried out to make the building resistant to earthquakes since the building is located in a seismic region.
