The M4 metro is the first underground metro line in Anatolian side of Istanbul.
The designed line starts from Kadikoy square, connects with Marmaray line at Ayrilikcesme station, moves along D100 route in Acibadem region and ends at Kartal station.
There is a 52-car (13 trains) depot and a 32-car maintenance workshop at Maltepe Station region between Maltepe and Huzurevi stations. The entire line was built under the ground including the depot and workshop areas. Commissioning date of the phase 1 is August 2012.

Preliminary, final and detail (construction) design services for the metro rail system have been prepared by Prota.
The design services provided by Prota within the scope of the project are summarized below:
- Architecture, interior design and finishing works

- Geological and geodetic studies, geotechnical studies, reports and excavation shoring projects
- Mechanical ventilation, heating-cooling, plumbing systems,
- Fire projects (station and tunnel fire detection and fighting, gas-water extinguishing, smoke removal and escape route pressurization)
- Electrical Projects (3rd rail, power installation, low voltage, MV system, lighting, socket, UPS, routing and grounding system projects)
- Power supply, traction transformers and ring system
- Communication design (CCTV, announcement, passenger information, emergency call, clock, radio system, driver platform monitoring, entrance security, line-wide radio system, tunnel radio and fiber optic cabling)
- Acoustic Modeling Reporting (building acoustics, line vibration, noise analysis)
- Environmental planning (landscape, road-traffic regulation, traffic displacement, Infrastructure and infrastructure displacement and drainage)
- CFD, SES, piston effect simulations
- Zoning plan amendment proposals, expropriation documents
- Scada system
- Depot and maintenance facility design
