Akay Ataturk Square

The project site is located at the intersection of the most important arteries of Ankara which are Atatürk Boulevard constituting the basic spine of the city in north-south direction and İnönü Boulevard starting from the Turkish Grand National Assembly in the east and characterized as a corridor of public institutions through the west. As the node is the intersection of the major transportation channels, it has been tendered by Ankara Metropolitan Municipality to be organized as a multi-level underground junction and the construction works has been started in June 1998. The underground junction has been opened to service in three stages and Atatürk Square was completed at the last stage of the whole construction period in April 2001. Total duration of the implementation works of 12.000 sqm. area has been three months.
